ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Kain Daub (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood) is looking forward to putting his skills to the test.
At Friday's Under Armour Combine, Daub impressed enough to accepted an invitation to the 2014 Under Armour Game.
"That's really all I came out here for, to compete," he said. "I probably won't do all the combine stuff, but I want to compete and get better."
A one-time commitment to LSU, Daub has since rescinded that claim and is open to all comers. He says the Tigers still exist as an option, but communication will have to improve.
"I was committed to LSU, but I ended up decommitting," he said. "I transferred schools, so I kind of lost connection and we didn't talk as much. It was small things like that. I hadn't heard from them so there was nothing going on. I am keeping that door open, though."
For right now, though, Daub has four, maybe five programs firmly in the mix.
"LSU, Alabama, USC, Oregon and maybe Florida," he said.
Daub's criteria isn't exactly complicated. Studies and playing time, a common request among prospects, are high on his list, too.
"Academics, I would like to start as a freshman and just a good time," he said.
