Florida title games boost stock of seniors

With the two weeks of the Florida state finals in the bank, there were several seniors who might have boosted their stock in the final weeks of the recruiting season.

Matt Dayes, RB, Weston (Fla.) Cypress Bay: The three-star prospect took a major leap forward in Saturday’s loss to Apopka (Fla.). Dayes is a little bigger than the 5-foot-8, 193 pounds he is listed at and little faster than the 4.71 speed he was clocked at. Now that he has decommitted from N.C. State, he is on the radar at Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Miami, Kentucky and South Florida.

Luke Helms, LB, Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby: Helms isn’t going to blow anyone away with his athleticism, but he’s smart, productive and always around the football as his nine tackles, two tackles for loss and fumble recovery in Friday’s win over Immokalee (Fla.) proved. At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, he’s got good size and there are a few FBS schools that could use his leadership and tenacity.
