ORLANDO, Fla. -- Jordan Scarlett (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./University School) ran through and around Madison County's defense en route to a 24-17 state championship victory.
The Cowboys defense, stout through the first half, did mount a stiff resistance. But Scarlett, behind his offensive line, worked to wear them down.
"It feels great," he said following the medal ceremony. "We just did it for all the seniors and left it all on the field. All the hard work that we've put in, it just feels great. It is my first championship, so it feels great."
