Arkansas quarterback commit Tyler Cogswell (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) doesn’t know too much about former Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema. But Bielema did make one huge impression.
“I remember 70 points. You put up 70 points in a game, then you’re doing something right,” Cogswell said.
The Bielema-coached Badgers scored 70 points in a win against Nebraska in last weekend’s Big Ten championship game. Bielema is leaving Madison, Wis., on a high note. Bielema was announced as the new head coach at Arkansas on Tuesday evening.
Cogswell, a three-star prospect who is 6-foot-5 and 228 pounds, has been committed to the Razorbacks since May.
But it hasn’t always been easy. A rough start to the season gave Cogswell every excuse to start looking around. Other schools started to talk to him more, but Cogswell never turned his back on Arkansas.
Now he said he has no reason to look elsewhere.
“It has been a rough time, but it’s all over now,” Cogswell said. “Everything is about to kick back up in a positive direction. I’m really excited.”
Cogswell said he cannot wait to get to know his new coach. Though Bielema was never in the conversation for the Arkansas spot before this week, Cogswell said the hire is not that shocking because Bielema is a coach with a track record and tradition of winning.
Cogswell said he is not sure when his in-home visit is going to be, but he will take his official visit to the campus sometime in January.
