For ESPN 150 defensive lineman Maquedius Bain (Davie, Fla./University School), his official visit to Marshall was truly a family affair.
The 6-foot-4, 285-pound senior took the visit on Nov. 2 and ran into a lot of familiar faces.
"It was an awesome trip to Marshall," Bain said. "I have a lot of family up there, a lot of friends."
"A.J. Leggett and Raheem Cato are up there and I was excited to hang out with them. These are people I’ve grown up with and known all my life."
With major BCS programs like LSU, Michigan State and Oklahoma heavily recruiting Bain, it was interesting to hear from the lineman where Marshall stood with him.
"I already feel like I’m a player in the program," Bain said. "The coaches are terrific. Everything was outstanding."
Bain had to remind himself it was his first official visit and he was expected to be overwhelmed. However the other four programs Bain visits will be held to high standards. Oklahoma is up next.
"I’m going to go to Oklahoma on Nov. 23, and that’s a visit that been in the works for a while," Bain said. "After that we’re looking at a trip to LSU in December."
Bain says he will no longer make his final decision at the Under Armour All-America Game but instead he’s going to take officials in January and make his choice on national signing day.
