Evrett Edwards is ready to be challenged again.
The Duke cornerback commitment from Woodbridge (Va.) High was a known commodity during his senior season. That meant offenses knew to throw away from him.
"I didn't get much action this year on defense," Edwards stated via text message to ESPN.
Edwards said he had only one interception, eight pass break ups and 32 tackles. Why the low numbers?
"They only threw the ball my way 12 times," Edwards stated. "Only two passes were caught on me this season for 21 yards."
Edwards committed to Duke in March and hasn't swayed since. He said he believes he's close to picking up scholarship offers from Maryland, Arizona State and North Carolina. Yet the direct contact between Edwards and those schools has been limited.
"I don't really speak with them too often," said Edwards, referring to recruiters from those schools. "They speak with my coaches more than they speak with me."
Edwards said he is considering visiting some of the other schools recruiting him. Still, he seems solidly committed to Duke.
"I am committed to Duke, as Duke is to me," Edwards stated.
As the Blue Devils' second-highest rated commitment, Duke is certainly committed to Edwards. When asked just how committed the Blue Devils are, Edwards said, "They are very excited."
