ESPN 150 athlete Tarean Folston (Cocoa, Fla./Cocoa) played in 36 straight games for Cocoa. He’s rushed for nearly 3,500 yards and 39 touchdowns over the last three seasons. So it’s no surprise that the 5-foot-9, 190-pound senior has his choice of schools, with Notre Dame, South Florida, Oregon and Tennessee seemingly out in front.
He recently took his first official visit to Notre Dame to watch the Fighting Irish defeat BYU.
"It was a great trip and I finally got to meet all of the coaches in person," Folston said. "I got a chance to see the players and how they worked in the program and still managed their academics. The campus was beautiful, the people were very friendly.
"Overall I got a good feeling about the school and how life is on and off the field."
Folston is being recruiting as a running back. He has played running back, quarterback and defensive back at Cocoa, but Cocoa head coach John Wilkinson says running back is the right choice.
"I think he can jump in and be a good running back," Wilkinson said. "In a couple of years once he puts on more weight I think he’ll be an excellent I-formation running back. Right now he’s a guy you can work on the read option or line him up at the slot. Just figure out different ways to get the ball in his hands."
Folston will be heading out west for his next official visit.
"My next official visit will be Oregon," Folston added. "I haven’t set the date yet but it will be in November."
