The whirlwind of official visits for four-star offensive lineman Shawn Curtis (Orlando, Fla./Olympia) will be coming to an end after a trip to Wake Forest this weekend.
The 6-foot-6, 270-pound senior has been to Virginia, Mississippi State, Syracuse and, most recently, Iowa State. And although Curtis has maintained all five programs being equal it sounds like the Cyclones could be considered the favorite going into the final trip.
"Iowa State was amazing actually," Curtis exclaimed. "I was blown away and I enjoyed everything I saw. The new facilities, the weight room is just amazing.
"I think Iowa State is just really underrated in terms of a gameday atmosphere. The whole city is so supportive of the team. The fans are out there every week. They love Iowa State football."
Curtis is being recruited to Iowa State by top assistant Courtney Messingham and he could be the gem in a class that already includes several Florida prospects.
"There are a lot of Florida boys on the roster so it’s a comfortable feeling," Curtis added. "We talked a lot about where I can fit in and they do so many of the things on offense that I’m doing at Olympia right now."
Curtis added that Syracuse presented itself very nicely the week before and says that all five schools are really close. The lineman will make an announcement on local television several days after his Wake Forest trip. He plans to enroll in January.
"I’m definitely going to shut things down after the Wake Forest trip and discuss it with my family," Curtis explained. "Everyone’s going to know my final decision at the same time."
