A month ago, it seemed like four-star linebacker Jeremy Benjamin (Hollywood, Fla./McArthur) was prepared to make a commitment.
But as we approach November, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound senior is still uncommitted and it’s unlikely he’ll make a commitment before looking around a bit.
There was talk of Benjamin heading to Marshall this past weekend, but Hurricane Sandy changed those plans and he stayed in South Florida for the weekend. Nonetheless, Marshall looks to be in line with a visit along with a few other programs.
“I think it’s best that I take a couple of official visits before making a decision,” Benjamin said. “I don’t think I’ll take any visits until after the season, so it could be a while.”
Right now, Florida International and Marshall have separated themselves from the pack.
“I would say FIU and Marshall are definitely the schools that stay in touch the most,” Benjamin added. “Wake Forest, West Virginia and Texas A&M are still in the top five, though.”
From a location standpoint, it would appear that FIU would have a natural advantage but there are other considerations for Benjamin.
“Being close to home is nice, but really it’s all about the best opportunity,” Benjamin added. “I’m going to choose the situation that gives me the best chance to succeed athletically and academically.”
