McCALLA, Ala. -- Clemson defensive line coach Marion Hobby attended the Class 5A state championship game in Alabama last fall. The headliner was Spanish Fort cornerback and University of Alabama signee Jonathan Cook, but Hobby came to see McAdory High School defensive lineman Cory Thomas.

On Thursday, Clemson offered Thomas a scholarship.

QB Jacob Kaiser talks Mizzou visit

Jacob Kaiser (St. Joseph, Mo./Central) has grown up in a house of Missouri Tigers fans, and playing in the school colors would be welcomed if he was given the opportunity. Kaiser has taken unofficial visits to Missouri, but he took in his first spring-practice experience on Thursday.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- With ideal weather and Alabama returning to the practice field, it was the perfect weekend to bring in some top recruits.

The Crimson tide took advantage and hosted prospects from across the Southeast for the opening practice.

Cajun flavor

Six Alabama players taking the field Saturday hail from the Pelican State including wide receiver Raheem Falkins, an early enrollee.

Based on the recruits who were on campus, the pipeline from Louisiana to Tuscaloosa could continue in the future.

Coveted OLB names a top five

ATHENS, Ga. -- Outside linebacker Jacob Pugh (Tallahassee, Fla./Godby) isn’t exactly sure of how many offers he has. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound junior has not counted them. Once he had received over 30 offers to the top programs in the nation, there really seemed no point in doing so. Pugh is more concerned about the five that he has on top.

ATLANTA -- Blaise Taylor (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) was a jack of all trades during his junior season. After having played offense all of his life, the 5-foot-7, 157-pound junior helped out on defense, with 22 tackles, four passes broken up and an interception to go along with eight rushes for 81 yards and a touchdown, 12 catches for 305 yards and five touchdowns, and 658 combined return yards with two return touchdowns.

A pair of brothers from Tennessee figure to make some lucky recruiter very happy.

Even though it's early in Emmanuel and Josh Smith's recruitment, they seem likely to eventually choose the same school. By all accounts, the pair from Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland have plenty of choices.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- If you look at his Facebook picture, it’s no surprise that ESPN Watch List linebacker Tre Williams is wearing an Alabama jersey in one of half the shot while sporting an Auburn jersey in the other half. The Alabama native says the two in-state schools are recruiting him the hardest.

Over the weekend, Williams was in Tuscaloosa for the Crimson Tide’s junior day.
