Hawkeyes pull another Jones from Rams

June, 15, 2013
Class of 2014 safety Jyaz Jones (Dallas/South Oak Cliff) has decommitted from Colorado State in favor of Iowa, according to multiple reports.

His older brother, wide receiver Anjeus Jones, followed the same path to Iowa City, originally choosing the Rams before signing with the Hawkeyes this past February.

Jyaz, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect, also holds scholarship offers from Baylor, Nebraska, New Mexico State and Texas Tech. LSU, SMU and Texas expressed interest. Jones sustained a torn ACL during spring practice. Prior to the injury, he posted an electronically timed 4.67 40-yard dash, 4.01 20-yard shuttle and 32.5-foot power throw on the Nike camp circuit.

The Hawkeyes now have six commitments for 2014.
