Nationally (and SEC)
Tennessee went into the 2014 class with a gigantic future need at running back, and coach Butch Jones and staff delivered for Volunteers fans in a big way. The Vols' running back haul includes not only ESPN 300 backs Jalen Hurd (Hendersonville, Tenn./Beech) and Derrell Scott (Havelock, N.C./Havelock) but also four-star Treyvon Paulk (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton). With different body types, styles and strengths, Tennessee added talent and depth for years to come as well as many different skill sets within the position. Hurd is tall, lean and chock-full of speed, athleticism and versatility, and Scott is a slasher with excellent ball skills out of the backfield. Paulk is a compact, downhill back with leg drive and power.

The Volunteers had the nation's best RB class; here's which schools had the best in each of the remaining power conferences:

Michigan and Ohio State both sit in the top 10 recruiting rankings this year after each landed top 10 classes in 2013 -- the Buckeyes were third, while the Wolverines were sixth.

That's why it should come as no surprise that the two schools have the top four recruiters in the Big Ten Conference for the Class of 2014 so far.

Here's a look at the top 10 recruiters in the Big Ten and why they deserve such high praise:

The Big Ten needs to add impact players across the board, so this 2014 recruiting class is going to be a crucial one. While Michigan and Ohio State lead the way in the class rankings, each team has important commitments in their own right.

Here is a look at the most important commit for each Big Ten team in the 2014 class:

Illinois
WR Tyrin Stone-Davis
6-3, 190
ESPN 300 Rank: N/A (Juco)

Jabrill Peppers
Jared Shanker/ESPNFive-star defensive back Jabrill Peppers, a Michigan commit, is the highest ranked commitment Michigan has landed since 2006.
Illinois has four senior receivers this season, so the offense is going to need help in that category. Since Stone-Davis is a junior college prospect he will most likely be able to make an impact earlier than other receivers coming in this class. Add in the fact that he’s coming as a package deal with his twin brother Tyree, a cornerback, then it’s an added bonus for the Illini.

The hottest team in the Big Ten right now isn't Michigan or Ohio State or Penn State or any of the traditional power schools in the conference. It's Northwestern and coach Pat Fitzgerald.

A top 20 recruiting class is not good enough for Northwestern any longer. Pat Fitzgerald is making a push for the top 15, and he added another impressive piece Tuesday.

Four-star running back Justin Jackson (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) committed to Northwestern, he told ESPN.com in a telephone call.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound athlete from just outside Chicago had the Wildcats at the top of his list for several weeks. Indiana, Iowa and Vanderbilt were other schools he was high on.

Justin Jackson gaining attention, offers

Teams recruiting Justin Jackson (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) don’t seem to care what position he plays. They just want him to be playing it for them.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound junior prospect is being looked at for either running back and cornerback, but four teams have already told Jackson he has a scholarship at any position he likes.

Boston College, Illinois, Northwestern and Purdue have extended offers to Jackson, who has 1,400 yards and 21 touchdowns this season through seven games despite playing with a lingering hip flexor since summer.
