ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- After four prospects decommitted from the USC Trojans since the beginning of November, the Trojans have finally got some good news as ESPN 150 safety Leon McQuay III (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) verbally committed to USC tonight during the Under Armour All-America Game.

The 6-foot-2, 183-pound four-star athlete selected the Trojans over Florida State, Oregon, Vanderbilt and Michigan.

As a senior, McQuay totaled 54 tackles and five interceptions on defense. He also added five receptions for 137 yards and a touchdown on offense.

McQuay, the nation’s No. 3 safety and a starter in Friday's UA Game, is expected to enroll early at USC and be eligible to play spring football.

With McQuay's decision, the Trojans have 15 verbal commitments, including 10 who are members of the ESPN 150. Each of the 15 commitments is ranked as a four-star or higher.
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- As Tony Stevens (Orlando, Fla./Evans) looks decreasingly likely to sign with Florida State, the Seminoles have begun to make appropriate changes to their plans at wide receiver.

There will be no shortage of talent, or college coaches, on the field at the Georgia Dome this weekend, as the GHSA football state championships are set to take place. All seven games will be broadcast live on Georgia Public Broadcasting TV, as well as streaming online at gpb.org/sports. Here are some prospects to keep an eye on in each of the seven matchups.

Prince Avenue (11-2) vs. ELCA (12-1): Class A Private, Friday, 2:30 p.m.

The top prospect in the opening matchup of the weekend is ESPN 150 defensive end Isaac Rochell. He committed to Notre Dame over 20 other offers back in June. His teammate, running back Keyante Green, is a ESPN 300 prospect who committed to Purdue during the summer after being previously committed to UCLA. Eagles Landing Christian Academy has two ESPN 2014 Watch List selections to keep an eye on as well in defensive end Andrew Williams and quarterback/athlete Dalton Etheridge. Williams, whose brother Anthony plays defensive end at Georgia Tech, looks to follow Rochell’s path as one of the most coveted prospects in Georgia.

With just a few short months left until national signing day, Florida and Florida State, as always, have two of the best recruiting classes in the country. 2014 will be no different. Here's a look at some of the top prospects Florida and Florida State will battle for next year.

DE Andrew Williams (McDonough, Ga./Eagles Landing): The ESPN Watch List defensive end visited Florida over the summer and came away impressed with the Gators. Williams also visited FSU for its game against the Gators. Other schools will be heavily involved in Williams' recruitment, but these two schools are sure to be near his top schools throughout.

DE Denzel Ware (Crestview, Fla./Crestview): Ware has been committed to FSU since September, but the Gators continue to pursue the talented defensive end. Ware took an unofficial visit to Florida for a game this year and came away impressed. He remains firmly committed to FSU, but Florida is still lingering.

Marquez WhiteGreg Ostendorf/ESPN.comMarquez White (Dothan, Ala./Northview) is committed to Florida State, but teams keep calling.
In six games this year, cornerback Marquez White (Dothan, Ala./Northview) has had the ball thrown his way just twice. The first time he gave up a catch, but Friday night he made the other team pay with his first interception of the season.

“That was probably my best game,” White said. “I’ve been playing real good all season, but this was probably my best all-around game. I got my first pick of the season, and that was probably the second time the ball had been thrown to my side this year. It’s been boring.”

Northview came up short in the game, dropping its record to 3-3 on the year, but White believes they could have won all six games. The four-star defensive back thinks they can still make a run to get in the playoffs.

Juco OLB Tommy Sanders talks Noles

Through seven games this season, Tommy Sanders (El Dorado, Kan./Butler Community College) has 45 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, six pass breakups and an interception -- solid numbers for an outside linebacker.

What the junior college standout is most excited about, however, is how his play has assisted in the success of his team. Butler is 7-0 and ranked No. 2 in the latest NJCAA poll. On Saturday, the Grizzlies throttled then-No. 19 Garden City (Kan.) Community College 84-13, and Sanders had five tackles, 1.5 sacks, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry.

“As of now, we’re in season, so my focus is on the team,” Sanders said. “I just love being here, becoming a complete team and a complete player. It’s been great to be here and prepare for the next level.”

Stevens loving what he sees

Recruits, and commitments for that matter, don't always watch college football and the teams they are interested in on Saturdays.

That's not the case with Tony Stevens (Orlando, Fla./Evans). The 6-foot-4, 184-pound Florida State commitment can't get enough.

The Seminoles success makes it even more addicting for him.

Tony Stevens
Corey Long/ESPN.comESPN 300 WR Tony Stevens announced Wednesday that he was no longer a Seminole.
ESPN 300 wide receiver commitment Tony Stevens (Orlando, Fla./Evans) said he has decommitted from Florida State late Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-4, 184-pound prospect had been committed to the Seminoles since February 25 before making an announcement on his personal Twitter account.

"I'm decommitting from Florida State," he said.

The Seminoles, it seems, aren't even in his top five any longer.

Stevens later said that Ohio State, Georgia, Louisville, USF and USC are his top schools. He did indicate in August that he was likely going to take other official visits.

"I'm going to take all of my visits because it's my senior year," Stevens said earlier. "I know I'm going to visit Ohio State, FSU, Louisville, South Carolina and USF ... but I'm still solid to Florida State."

That's obviously not the case now.

ESPN ranks Stevens as the No. 22 receiver in the class of 2013 and is the No. 35 player in Florida.

Saturday would have been the perfect opportunity for Corey Martinez (Tampa, Fla./Catholic) to kill two birds with one stone.

USF hosted Florida State in an in-state battle at Raymond James Stadium, just around the corner from Martinez' house, with both programs having already offered. But it wasn't to be, as a high school obligation stood in the way.

"I couldn't make it," Martinez said. "We had a homecoming dance so I was tied up with that.
