UCLA commitment Christian Morris feels wanted by Tennessee. That wasn't always the case.

"I will say this coaching staff, in my opinion, they're recruiting me much harder than the last coaching staff," the offensive tackle from Memphis (Tenn.) East said. "They really are making me a priority right now. It's a good relationship."

Former coach Derek Dooley was fired after three straight losing seasons and was replaced by former Cincinnati head coach Butch Jones.

Offensive tackle Christian Morris said he approves of Tennessee's decision to hire Butch Jones from Cincinnati.

The three-star prospect from Memphis (Tenn.) East knows that staff better than most. He was recruited by Bearcats coach Mark Elder. Cincinnati has had a significant recruiting presence in Memphis, aggressively pursuing the city's top talent.

That could pay dividends for Jones at Tennessee, as the Vols struggled with recruiting in Memphis with coach Derek Dooley, who was fired this month.

Morris is committed to UCLA but said he has recently taken a long look at the Volunteers. He has also expressed interest in Oklahoma and Nebraska.

Bobby Billingsley has tentatively targeted Jan. 30 for a visit to UCLA, the prospect told ESPN in a text message Tuesday.

The center from Memphis (Tenn.) East was originally scheduled to take an official visit to see the Bruins when they hosted rival Southern California last month. That trip fell through so Billingsley could focus on a college entrance exam.

Billingsley has said he'll likely commit to UCLA if the Bruins offer him a scholarship. His teammate, offensive tackle Christian Morris, is committed to UCLA but has shown interest in other schools, namely Nebraska and Oklahoma.

Other schools continue to make a push for Billingsley. Recruiters from Ole Miss and Middle Tennessee State stopped by to visit him recently. Another Billingsley teammate, defensive tackle Herbert Moore, committed to the Rebels in May.

Georgia continues to make a push for offensive tackle Christian Morris. One of its rivals might do so as well.

The three-star prospect from Memphis (Tenn.) East, who remains pledged to UCLA, said he would consider Tennessee after it made its next coaching hire. When asked, Morris said he noticed the previous coaching staff under third-year head coach Derek Dooley didn't place as much of an emphasis on in-state recruiting, especially in Memphis.

"Sort of because they were not making it that important," Morris said.

Christian Morris is a recruit and a recruiter.

This weekend figures to be big for UCLA as it tries to establish a recruiting presence in Tennessee.

Three of the top prospects from the Volunteer State will travel to Los Angeles to see the Bruins host archrival USC on Saturday. One is already committed, another has said he is close to doing so, while the last could be swayed by the Bruins' storied basketball tradition.

Offensive tackle Christian Morris from Memphis (Tenn.) East committed to UCLA in July. Since then he has been pursued by many other tradition-rich schools, namely Nebraska, to which he took an official visit in September.

Perhaps for fun or more college interest, UCLA commitment Christian Morris is adding another position to his repertoire.

The three-star offensive tackle told ESPN on Wednesday that he has been named the starting defensive end at Memphis (Tenn.) East. Whether the new position is a good fit for the 6-foot-6, 293-pound prospect remains to be seen. Nevertheless, Morris has already impressed recruiters enough to garner scholarship offers from over a dozen schools.

Morris committed to UCLA in July. He told ESPN that he thought playing two positions could help his college recruiting.

The UCLA Bruins added a big piece to their 2013 recruiting class on Wednesday, as offensive guard John Lopez (Orange, Calif./Lutheran) announced his commitment to Jim Mora and staff.

UCLA continues to load up along the offensive line in this class, as Lopez is the fourth offensive lineman to commit to the Bruins, joining fellow four-star Erik Bunte (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Santa Margarita), Sean Dowling (Fallbrook, Calif./Fallbrook) and Christian Morris (Memphis/East).

The UCLA Bruins put their best foot forward during an unofficial visit from offensive tackle Christian Morris (Memphis, Tenn./East) last week and it might not be long before it pays off in a big way.

Morris hasn't been shy about discussing his leaning toward the West Coast, but last week marked his first trip to California. Several days in Los Angeles for the B2G Elite Camp did nothing to dissuade him from possibly picking up and heading across the country for college. Before the camp started, Morris had a chance to visit UCLA.

"When I first walked into the building and went into the office, all the coaches were sitting around waiting for me," he said. "As soon as I came in, they all treated me like family. I took a trip to see their facilities and I love the architecture of the school, how the weight room looks, everything."

Several stand out at B2G Elite Camp

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- The B2G Elite Camp, held over the weekend at Cal Lutheran University featured 100 top football players from across the country. The published roster was loaded with talent and the turn out did not disappoint. After two days of individual drills, including one-on-one and seven-on-seven work, the group broke into the "A game" on Sunday, which featured several highlights.

In a high-scoring affair that was eventually secured for the offense with a leaping touchdown grab from wide receiver Laquon Treadwell (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee), both sides had players step up and contribute.

But it began and ended with Treadwell, who hauled in three touchdown passes and was awarded the offensive MVP of camp. The nation's No. 38 player and No. 4 wide receiver had two long catch-and-run touchdowns, then made his mark on the final drive with a tough catch in traffic along the sideline to set up the final score. The few times he had difficulty getting open or securing a catch, more times than note it was cornerback Chris Hawkins (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) providing the coverage. The two had several terrific one-on-one battles throughout camp with neither player giving an inch to the other. Hawkins said Treadwell can expect to hear from him in the future, as the USC commit looks to haul in another standout receiver for the Trojans while they participate in The Opening later this week.

The 2012 B2G Elite Camp will kick off on June 29 and the roster of attendees makes it a must-see event for any recruiting fan.

Held at Cal Lutheran University, the camp features three days of training, meetings and film study for 85 top athletes. Camp attendees are also given a glimpse into the academic requirements at the next level.

B2G has produced plenty of big time defensive backs over the years, and that pedigree combined with how loaded the 2013 West region recruiting class is with safeties and cornerbacks makes it no surprise that the roster is stacked at those two positions.

MEMPHIS -- Head North young man.

While it might not be the common phrase well-read recruiting fans are used to, it is what Christian Morris is thinking. Why? A trip to Chicago in the middle of the winter sold him on it.

“I liked it,” the 6-foot-5, 280-pound offensive tackle from Memphis East said. “I just like playing in that type of weather. I feel relaxed in that type of weather.”
