Poona Ford committed to Louisville in August, but the ESPN 300 defensive tackle really pledged to suit up for Charlie Strong.

“He really, really likes him and respects him,” said B.J. Payne, Ford’s coach at Hilton Head (S.C.) High. “That’s who he wanted to play for.”

RB Scott, WR Polk to Louisville

With the additions of L.J. Scott (Marion, Ohio/Harding) and Cameron Polk (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern), Louisville's Class of 2014 has grown to 20, according to multiple reports.

Scott is a 5-foot-10, 224-pound three-star running back whose other offers include Indiana, Kent State, Michigan State, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

He showed impressive athleticism this spring on the Nike combine circuit registering an electronically timed 4.76 40-yard dash, 4.25 20-yard shuttle, 30.4-inch vertical, 42-foot power throw and 110.82 SPARQ.

Polk, a three-star, also had scholarship offers from Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Massachusetts, Ohio and Toledo. He's a 6-1, 188-pound wide receiver with a 32.6-inch vertical.

The Cardinals class is ranked 20th nationally.

ADDISON, Ill. -- The most recent stop on the 2013 Nike Football Training Camp schedule was just outside of Chicago, and The Windy City swept out plenty of talent on Sunday. The competition in the trenches and the depth at wide receiver was the best the 2013 cycle, making the day especially interesting all around.

UMass first to offer junior Cameron Polk

With injuries behind him, Cameron Polk (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) had a breakout junior season. College programs have taken notice, and the first school offered Thursday.

Massachusetts is the first to offer the 6-foot-2, 170-pound receiver. Polk did not get to talk to UMass assistant Jeff Burris, who offered the scholarship.

"I was so excited once I found about it," he said. "I had hoped that scholarships would come my way but I didn't expect it to be so soon."

Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State and Wisconsin are a few of the Big Ten programs also interested in Polk.

Cameron Polk enjoys Michigan State trip

Receiver Cameron Polk (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) burst onto the scene with a big junior season, and several Big Ten teams have noticed. Polk took a visit to one Saturday.

Michigan State hosted Polk, and it was his first time visiting.

"I really liked it. The facilities were nice and the atmosphere around the stadium was fun to be around,” Polk said. “I’d say my favorite part was getting around the athletic centers and seeing all the facilities. There was a lot of equipment and resources for the athletes.”
