Nationally (and SEC)
The Alabama Crimson Tide’s 2014 class fill just about every need on the board, and that includes linebacker. With designs on addressing pass rushing and the ability to play in space on the edge at outside 'backer in Nick Saban’s 3-4 scheme, Alabama signed the Nos. 1 and No. 2 outside linebackers in the country in No. 48 overall Christian Miller (Columbia, S.C./Spring Valley) and No. 52 overall Rashaan Evans (Auburn, Ala./Auburn), who is pound for pound of the best pure athletes in the 2014 cycle. The Crimson Tide added two more talented linebackers in ESPN 300’s No. 102 Shaun Dion Hamilton (Montgomery, Ala./Carver) and No. 281 Keith Holcombe (Tuscaloosa, Ala./Hillcrest). Hamilton is an MLB.

The Crimson Tide had the nation’s best linebacker class; here’s which schools had the best in each of the remaining power conferences:

Pac-12 recruiting storylines: Dec. 19

The dead period runs through Jan. 15, and some recruits have said they will use that to take a break from recruiting, but that doesn't mean it will shut down for everyone. Coaches are still able to contact recruits during the dead period -- just no in-person contact -- and a number of recruits will be making commitments during this time. Over the next few weeks and through the holidays, Pac-12 recruiting fans will have a number of things to keep an eye on, including these five topics.

Who sets January visits?

With the dead period wiping out an entire weekend normally dedicated to official visits, recruits will have just three January weekends available to take visits -- the 17th, 24th and 31st -- if they'd like to commit and sign on signing day. Every Pac-12 program is looking to load up on official visits during those weekends. Stanford and USC look as though they will be very busy on Jan. 17, and Oregon is always able to grab a few late official visitors -- ESPN JC 50 WR Eric Lauderdale (Fayetteville, Ga./Saddleback College) is scheduled for Jan. 31. There are plenty of Pac-12 targets saying they will likely set up January officials to various schools.

Daryl Dunlap (LaGrange, Ga./Troup County) has decided to head west and play for San Diego State, multiple sources report.

Dunlap, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound outside linebacker, was recruited by Aztecs running backs coach LeCharls McDaniel.

He's their first pledge from outside California. Two other linebackers, Cameron Griffin (Los Angeles/View Park) and Jay Henderson (Victorville, Calif./Serrano), are currently part of the class.

Donavin Buck (Brawley, Calif./Union) and Cameron Griffin (Los Angeles/View Park) committed to San Diego State for 2014, multiple sources report.

Arizona, Oregon State, Rutgers, San Jose State, Southern Methodist and Washington State were Buck's other scholarship offers. Minnesota, Oregon, Pittsburgh, UCLA and Washington also recruited Buck, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound defensive end/linebacker.

Griffin, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker, also holds a scholarship offer from Fresno State.

San Diego State's three other 2014 verbals are also from California: outside linebacker Jay Henderson (Victorville, Calif./Serrano), cornerback Maurice McKnight (San Bernardino, Calif./Arroyo Valley) and running back William Walker (Perris, Calif./Citrus Hill).
