NCF On The Trail: Blue Chip Battles
Each recruiting season, there are the battles that can make the difference between becoming a championship contender or an also-ran. These aren't necessarily the 10 best remaining uncommitted recruits. Instead, these are the 10 battles we project as being the fiercest between now and signing day.
Rasheem Green | Serra (Gardena, California)
Defensive Tackle | 6-5/290 | ESPN 300 Rank: 22
Who wants him? Green holds offers from programs all over the country, but several Pac-12 teams appear to be in the lead, as Oregon, Stanford, UCLA and USC are pushing hard.
Front-runners: UCLA and USC
Dark horse: Stanford
Final breakdown: Green took an official visit to Oregon in October and to Miami this weekend for the Hurricanes' showdown against Florida State. Green plans to announce his commitment on signing day and -- unlike several highly recruited Los Angeles-based prospects in the past -- is looking to take official visits to both UCLA and USC. While Green is following former teammate Adoree' Jackson's lead and keeping virtually everything in his recruitment under wraps, the best guess at this point is one of those two Los Angeles schools, but neither Oregon nor Stanford should be discounted. -- Erik McKinney
