It’s been a busy week in recruiting in the SEC already, but the beginning of the week is only the start with two announcements Friday that could impact SEC recruiting class, and the annual LSU-Alabama showdown that draws almost as many top prospects as a postseason all-star game.

Hawkeyes on the prize

Iowa picked up a running back commit with some eye-popping numbers when Markel Smith (St. Louis/St. John Vianney) chose Iowa over Missouri and Ole Miss.

The game of the year in the Pac-12 is finally here, as recruits will tune in Thursday night to watch Stanford host Oregon (ESPN, 9 p.m. ET). The UCLA Bruins proved that the offensive line recruiting magic from last year's class is still alive and well. Official visitors will be on hand at Utah and Cal. And fans of Arizona State and Oregon could get a glimpse of the future during a high-stakes high school clash on Saturday.

Several new offers flew out in the ACC this week, specifically in the center of the ACC geographical footprint. More on those, and a new commitment for Boston College, too.

North Carolina becomes latest to offer 2016 star

It's usually difficult to evaluate offensive linemen when they are just sophomores in high school. But it makes it easier when they are 6-foot-7, 275 pounds and athletic.

That's what Jauan Williams (Washington, D.C./Archbishop Carroll) is. And that's why he's already got major offers.

It has been a slow week in terms of players committing to Big 12 programs. But that doesn't mean offers have stopped being handed out.

Two of those schools that handed them out include Texas and Oklahoma. Speaking of the Longhorns, they’ll visit West Virginia this weekend in what should be a huge recruiting weekend for the Mountaineers.
