Although several ACC schools had a bye, recruiting didn't stop. Whether on the road or on campus, coaches paid special attention to several prospects.

Florida State impresses tight end on official

Three-star tight end Ryan Izzo (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) was Florida State's most notable visitor over the weekend for a couple reasons. First, he was on his official, and second, he's at a position of major need for the Seminoles.

The college season is three weeks in, and as expected the recruiting wheels are back in motion with official visits now taking center stage. From Alabama’s win in a showdown at Texas A&M with a slew of prospects on hand, to standout performances, here is the latest around the SEC.

Best weekend performances
QB Will Grier (Davidson, N.C./Day, Florida commit): The weekly Grier statistical dominant performance includes a 30-of-40 night for 422 yards and five touchdowns, along with 201 rushing yards and two touchdowns. In four games this season, Grier has 25 touchdown passes.

Weekend recruiting wrap: Pac-12

It was another extremely impressive weekend for Pac-12 programs on the field, as the conference went 9-2 overall, which included a guaranteed loss as Oregon State traveled to Utah. On the recruiting trail, things were just as impressive, as blowout wins by Oregon and UCLA had recruits buzzing about the resiliency of the Bruins on the road and the overpowering display on both sides of the ball by the Ducks. Elsewhere, Utah added a big commitment and Cal hosted a huge recruiting weekend.

Biggest commitment: Utah had plenty of talent on hand for its overtime loss to Oregon State, and while the result was disappointing for a team looking to make a statement early in the season, the atmosphere in the stadium helped land a big verbal commitment from junior college wide receiver Brandon Snell (Miami/Garden City CC). Snell originally signed with Louisville as part of the 2012 class, but enrolled at Garden City Community College in Kansas and will now take his speed and elusiveness to Utah, as the Utes continue to stockpile talent that will allow it to compete in the Pac-12.

Weekend recruiting wrap: Big 12

It continues to get worse in Austin, Texas, where the Longhorns lost to Ole Miss 44-23 on Saturday. We’ll look at that loss and what it means for Texas, as well as Oklahoma trying to capitalize on its rivals’ mishaps in this week’s Big 12 weekend recruiting wrapup.

Biggest commitment: This one goes to Oklahoma and the verbal pledge it received from 2014 offensive guard Jonathan Alvarez (Mesquite, Texas/Horn) on Tuesday. Alvarez isn’t the most well-known commitment for the Sooners, but he helps fill a big void.
