Weekend recruiting wrap: ACC

The first faxes will start rolling in 48 hours from now, so this last weekend was pivotal for schools as they look to finish their 2014 classes strong.

Biggest commitment: Miami needed some good news on the recruiting trail after a series of decommitments in January, and they received it when David Njoku (Cedar Grove, N.J./Cedar Grove) committed. The receiver/tight end decommitted from Rutgers during the season and began receiving interest from several schools late in the process, and he took a late official visit to Ohio State after it offered. Njoku decided to commit to Miami, which was on him the hardest.

The final week of official visits didn’t disappoint, as four Big 12 schools combined for eight commitments going into Wednesday’s signing day.

TCU was the big winner, landing four players in the 2014 class. Here are some of this past week’s highlights:

The final weekend before signing day saw a lot of movement within the Big Ten. Here is a look at what took place on the recruiting trail over the weekend.

Biggest commitment: Nebraska went on a frenzy this past weekend, landing six total commitments. The biggest came from ESPN Junior 300 defensive back Eric Lee (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Valor Christian), the No. 217 prospect, and ESPN Junior 300 athlete Avery Anderson (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek), ranked No. 235 in his class.

This was the final weekend before national signing day, and of course, there was a ton of news around the SEC. Vanderbilt added a slew of commitments, as did Alabama and Texas A&M. There were also some key visits and a decommitment from an SEC West school. Here’s a closer look at the latest recruiting news around the SEC.

Biggest commitments: After suffering 11 decommitments after coach James Franklin left for Penn State, Vanderbilt was in desperate need of a big recruiting weekend, and it finally got it.

The countdown is on, as the final weekend before signing day comes to a conclusion. Monday begins the dead period before signing day, so phones will likely be ringing off the hook between now and Wednesday -- phone contact is allowed during a dead period, in-person contact is not -- as Pac-12 coaches look to finalize the 2014 class.
