Arkansas gets Texas 2015 interior OL
By Damon Sayles
Arkansas had been in the lead for 2015 prospect Zach Rogers (Lewisville, Texas/Hebron) for quite some time. On Saturday, the stud offensive lineman made it official by committing to the Razorbacks, becoming the second 2015 player to give Arkansas his pledge.
Rogers made the commitment during a quick weekend trip to Fayetteville, Ark. He chose Arkansas over offers from Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas Tech and UCLA. While he was grateful for those offers, no school compared to his love for Arkansas.
“I just like the area and the town of Fayetteville,” Rogers said. “I think the coaches are doing great things there. I knew I wanted to be a part of it.”
When asked if the other schools were a distant second, Rogers replied, “They [Arkansas] were definitely out there. They’ve had the lead for a while. It was all about who I felt the most comfortable with.”
A 6-foot-2, 297-pound interior lineman, Rogers was recruited by running backs coach Joel Thomas, but he has also built a solid relationship with offensive line coach Sam Pittman. Rogers said he’s looking forward to playing for them, as well as head coach Bret Bielema, in a competitive SEC schedule.
Rogers has made several trips to Fayetteville during his recruiting process. He took in a Razorbacks camp last month and once again showed why he was wanted by several programs.
Rogers now joins quarterback Ty Storey (Charleston, Ark./Charleston) in Arkansas’ 2015 recruiting class.
