2015 LB earns Michigan offer
By Tom VanHaaren
Hundreds of prospects came out to Ann Arbor to participate in Michigan's high school camp on Monday. All were hoping to hone their craft and potentially get a scholarship offer from the Wolverines.
Out of all the recruits in attendance, 2015 linebacker Justin Hilliard (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) was one of the few lucky ones to receive an offer after the camp.
"I wouldn't say I had an idea they would offer, but I had the hope they would." he said. "They didn't say much during the camp, but afterwards I talked to Coach (Mark) Smith and he said that they were offering."
The 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker now holds offers from Michigan, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Miami, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Ohio State, among others. It's too early for him to tell where any program is ranked, but he was excited after receiving the offer.
"I'm definitely looking into Michigan," he said. "I don't like ranking them, but Michigan will probably be up there."
His final camp appearance of the year will be at Notre Dame on July 21, and then he will try to take unofficial visits over the summer. He doesn't have a specific decision timeline in mind just yet, but most likely won't wait until signing day.
"I learned a lot from my brother's (2014 Iowa commit C.J. Hilliard) recruitment," he said. "I'll probably end up making my decision before my senior year so I have the year to play and the pressure off of me."
