Foster visiting a favorite this weekend
By Jared Shanker
CINCINNATI -- With all the defensive talent at Cincinnati's Winton Woods High School, it is easy for a player to get lost in the shuffle. Jerrell Foster is just beginning to break out of the crowd.
The 2014 cornerback picked up his third offer recently, and it was his first BCS scholarship. Pittsburgh offered the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Foster at the beginning of the month.
“I gave them a call, and they said they’re really high on me and I fit in to what they want to do,” Foster said. “They want me to come down and then said they were offering me.”
Foster will make it to Pitt’s campus this weekend, and he said the Panthers are his favorite among the schools to offer.
Illinois is also recruiting Foster, as is Kentucky, where his partner in the defensive backfield Mike Edwards committed Monday.
“I like the [Kentucky] staff and what they’re about,” said Foster, who visited at the end of May. “I talked to [assistant coach] Vince Marrow. He said they’re going to recruit me hard. I’m interested in them.”
Ball State and Kent State were Foster’s first two offers, and Winton Woods coach Andre Parker believes Wake Forest could be the next school to extend a scholarship to Foster.
