Campbell forced to sit out this spring
By Corey Dowlar
BRADENTON, Fla. -- On the fields of the IMG Academy Southeast Regional 7-on-7 Tournament, George Campbell (Tarpon Springs, Fla./East Lake) stood off to the side with a sling hanging off his shoulder and covering his broken wrist.
That injury, suffered a few weeks back, will keep him out of East Lake's spring practices starting at the beginning of May. But fortunately for him, he's already got a ton of offers to begin with and won't be reliant on coaches coming by for the evaluation period.
That doesn't mean he isn't frustrated, though.
"I feel like I have proved what I have to prove," Campbell said. "It is just that I want to be out there with my team. We're a young team coming back."
This summer figures to be a busy one. Campbell says he and his teammate, Artavis Scott, will be taking some visits together.
"I know me and [Artavis Scott] are going to sit down together and sit down with our parents and make a list of places we want to see," he said.
"We can save money, and the bond we have, we're like brothers. We like the same things."
Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt have all already offered Campbell. According to him, none stick out.
It's too early to be playing favorites just yet, Campbell said.
"Right now, to tell you the truth, everybody is even because I have another two years," he said. "I am just sitting back and evaluating everything."
