Sadler, a 5-foot-10, 192-pound receiver, verbally committed to Texas Tech today and became the Red Raiders’ sixth overall commitment of the 2014 recruiting class. Sadler chose Texas Tech over offers from Minnesota, Iowa State and North Texas.
Thsi was Sadler’s third visit to Texas Tech, and it proved to be the charm. The Red Raiders will get a player who was a 1,000-yard receiver as a junior.
“I’m real excited,” Sadler said. “It’s good to be here and to see the atmosphere. Being around an atmosphere like this, and being around the coaches and players, it’s been great. I knew this is where I wanted to go.
“Honestly, it was everyone who was involved that got me interested. All the coaches told me a lot about Tech, and they really seemed like they cared about me.”
He caught 49 passes for 1,004 yards and 12 touchdowns last season and averaged better than 20 yards per catch. He also rushed 51 times for 382 yards and 15 touchdowns, averaging almost 7.5 yards per rush.
Sadler said he was recruited to play inside receiver, and he has high expectations of being a go-to player for Kliff Kingsbury’s offense.
“I will work hard and will do whatever they want me to do,” Sadler said. “I’m looking to perform at a high level.”
