QB William Crest picks WVU
The Mountaineers have added quarterback William Crest (Baltimore/Dunbar) to their Class of 2014, multiple sources report. Crest is currently rated as the nation's No. 16 QB-DT.
Maryland, North Carolina, Rutgers, UTEP, Virginia and Virginia Tech also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-2, 197-pound three-star talent. Ohio State, among others, showed interest.
ESPN Scouts, Inc. calls Crest "raw and undeveloped, which is part of what is very exciting about him. He's athletic with experience under the center and in the gun. He's a natural ball carrier with upside to develop as a passer. He likely needs to be in a shotgun heavy, move the launch point scheme with the potential as an athlete to change positions. We like his tools for the BCS level, but rate of development is a key for him as a passer."
Crest is West Virginia's second pledge for 2014, joining wide receiver Ricky Rogers (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), who committed in December.
