Michigan State lands Illinois OL
By Jared Shanker
Michigan State landed a commitment from one of the top linemen in Illinois.
Chase Gianacakos, a 6-foot-5, 280-pound offensive tackle from Saint Charles (Ill.) North, said he committed to the Spartans over offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Toledo, Western Michigan and Wyoming.
“I felt like Michigan State was the right fit from the first time I visited,” Gianacakos said.
“I feel like I can grow as both a person and a football player there. Coach (Mark) Dantonio has built a great program, and I am excited to play for him, Coach Staten and Coach Bollman.”
Gianacakos’ commitment comes on the heels of a visit last week to East Lansing. He spent two days on campus visiting with coaches, watching practice and spending time with the players.
