Raekwon McMillan details upcoming visit
By Brad Bournival
Raekwon McMillan (Hinesville, Ga./Liberty County) has been to Ohio State on several occasions. Next time, the ESPN Watch List junior has an agenda.
Making a rare, three-day unofficial visit April 1-3, the 6-foot-2, 234-pound inside linebacker is headed to Columbus, Ohio, for a different reason.
He already knows what the coaching staff has to offer, which is a major reason why he’s kept the Buckeyes at or near the top during the recruiting process. This time, it’s personal.
Raekwon McMillan is taking his visit to Ohio State in April to another level.
“I’m coming to re-evaluate my top five and to get closer to some of my potential teammates,” McMillan said. “And I’m expecting to get the players’ perspective on their coaches.”
McMillan has long been on the Ohio State radar as one of the premier junior linebackers and the Buckeyes are hoping he is a perfect bridge for the future after landing ESPN 150 linebackers Trey Johnson (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett) and Mike Mitchell (Plano, Texas/Prestonwood Christian) in the 2013 class.
The junior is coming off a terrific season in which he recorded 152 tackles -- 22 for loss -- seven sacks, five forced fumbles and added an interception and defensive score.
As a sophomore, he registered 97 total tackles -- 20 for loss -- five forced fumbles, a sack and interception.
McMillan has routinely indicated that he will announce his college choice at the Under Armour All-America Game in January. To date, he has more than 20 offers and the list reads like a who’s who in college football.
