"They took me up to talk to Coach Fisher with my dad, coach [Robert] Weiner and the guy that recruits my area, Coach [Lawrence] Dawsey," he said. "We all sat down and talked for a little bit and he said, 'I just want to let you know that you have a scholarship offer here. We are really excited to stay in touch and we really would like you here.' I was really appreciative. That was huge because they have always been a school that I have looked at and there was nothing but good things coming back from them. I was very excited."
Beck knew of Florida State before, but he still needed to get to know the campus and the school a little better while he was in town. He got the tour of the facilities and dorms and came away relatively impressed.
"They took us around the campus, the campus was nice," Beck said. "They showed us all about the football. Florida State, in general, has a lot of history. We got to see the dorms where the freshmen football players stay. They were actually really nice. It was good."
The Plant linebacker has offers from Boston College, Kentucky, Miami (Fla), SMU and UCF, too. But the Seminoles have made a push towards the top and are firmly a part of the race now.
"It definitely puts them up there with where I want to go," he said. "There is still a while till I am going to make a decision, but they are definitely a top school of mine."
Beck said he and the rest of his Plant teammates will announce their decisions before the start of their season in the fall.
