Purdue continues strong finish
Running back Dalyn Dawkins (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) is the latest three-star talent to select Purdue down the stretch run toward signing day, multiple sources report. The Boilermakers have gathered about half of their 2013 commitments since late January.
Dawkins visited Purdue last weekend. He also took official visits to Colorado State (Jan. 18) and Western Kentucky (Jan. 25). Ball State, Cincinnati and Illinois were his other scholarship offers. The in-state BCS programs, Kentucky and Louisville, showed interest but did not offer.
ESPN writes in its evaluation: "Dawkins is an electric runner with very good foot-quickness and change-of-direction. The knock on him is size and its likely what is deterring bigger attention on the recruiting trail. ... Overall, we feel that Dawkins is falling under the BCS radar."
The Boilermakers' 2013 class has grown to 22.
