Juco DT Aaron Bennett headed to Big 12
By Blair Angulo
A visit to Texas over the weekend was enough for junior college offensive lineman Aaron Bennett (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Community College) to commit.
Bennett will sign with Texas Tech on Wednesday, RCC coach Tom Craft said Monday.
Bennett committed to Texas Tech over New Mexico State, joining fellow jucos Demetrius Alston (Norcross, Ga./Hutchinson Community College), Tyler Middleton (Midland, Texas/Navarro College) and Dorian Crawford (Walnut, Calif./Mt. San Antonio College) in the Red Raiders' recruiting class.
"Aaron has great upside," Craft said. "We converted him, actually, from a defensive lineman to offense. He's got a high ceiling and is every bit of 6-feet-7. He's a great athlete with a defensive mentality. I know it's Tech's feeling that he can redshirt, but once he fills out a little bit, he can be a two-year starter. He's a really good pass-blocker. He's got long arms and a real good base. He's aggressive, he's not soft, so once he builds up his frame to 300 pounds, it will really help him. The physical side will come."
Bennett is the fourth offensive lineman and 19th overall member in Texas Tech's class.
