Thadd Smith makes Boston College visit
By Jared Shanker
Steve Addazio offered 2014 athlete Thadd Smith (Springfield, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) while he was the coach at Temple. So when he moved to Boston College, Smith was hoping Addazio would still be interested.
While at Boston College for a visit for its junior day Saturday, Smith found out Addazio indeed was still interested. Smith added his third offer -- and his second from Addazio.
“I kind of had a good feeling about them offering me because they would always come visit me at school and they told me how much they were interested in me and the way I played,” Smith said.
Assistant coach Ryan Day followed Addazio to Boston College from Temple, and Smith has a strong relationship with Day as well.
“I talk to either them at least once a week, so it’s good that we kept a strong relationship even though they left Temple,” Smith said.
Cardinal O'Hara teammate Dashawn Darden also made the visit to Boston College. Darden, a dual-threat quarterback, received interest from Temple when Addazio was there, and while he did not get an offer this weekend, he is someone the BC staff is keeping an eye on.
“They showed me the campus, the buildings where the classes are, the stadium, the weight room and the meeting rooms for all the positions,” Darden said.
An Eagles coach is slated to be at their school early this week, and Darden said he will talk more with the coaches then.
