Yancey makes switch to Big Ten

By Radi Nabulsi

Just hours after decommitting from the University of Kentucky, wide receiver Deangelo Yancey (Atlanta/Mays) decided where he wanted to play college football.

“I went ahead and committed to Purdue,” Yancey said. “It just felt like home.”

The coaching change at Kentucky seemed to sour his relationship with the Wildcats and Yancey told RecruitingNation that he was looking for a better fit. New Purdue head coach Darrell Hazell watched Yancey’s highlights and decided to extend an offer. Yancey responded by taking an official visit to Purdue on Friday.

Earlier on Saturday, Yancey decommitted from Kentucky and announced that he would be deciding between Purdue and Missouri. The Tigers also recently extended an offer to Yancey after former Kentucky wide receivers coach Pat Washington was hired by Missouri.

Apparently Yancey’s decision came quicker than he anticipated, as he now plans to join the Boilermakers.
