Vols' big recruiting weekend dealt a blow
By Jared Shanker
Knoxville has been teeming with top 2013 prospects since Butch Jones began hosting visitors in January, but the new Tennessee coach will no longer be bringing in a top target on campus as planned.
Clairton (Pa.) athlete Tyler Boyd is no longer visiting Tennessee, his mother, Tonya Payne, told ESPN.com.
Boyd committing to Pittsburgh on national TV at the U.S. Army All-America Game on Jan. 5 but said he still would take visits elsewhere. Those visits never took place, and Boyd canceled his last visit to Tennessee on Thursday.
Late Wednesday night, Boyd told ESPN.com he was "not sure" if he would visit Knoxville.
Throughout the process, Boyd has canceled several official visits. Michigan State, West Virginia and Wisconsin all set up official visit dates at one point with Boyd, No. 165 in the ESPN 300. The four-star athlete, who will likely play receiver in college, only went through with one official visit -- to Pitt on Nov. 16.
