OL Bell receives dream offer from Auburn
By Greg Ostendorf
Pritchard, Ala., offensive lineman Wilson Bell is still committed to Central Florida, but it has to be considered a soft commitment at best. He says Florida State is his top school after taking an official visit there last weekend, and on Monday, he picked up an offer from Auburn.
“It was like a dream come true,” Bell said. “This is a school that I always wanted to go to, so I was really happy. Now, I just have to see how I like the new coaching staff. That’s what I’m trying to figure out.”
New Tigers’ head coach Gus Malzahn came to Bell's school, along with former Florida State assistant coach Dameyune Craig and new offensive line coach J.B. Grimes. It was the first time Bell had met Malzahn.
“He’s a real cool guy, a godly guy,” Bell said. “I feel like he has a program that’s on the rise. If I take the visit, I have to go down there and see what they have to offer.”
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound offensive lineman is still debating on whether or not to visit Auburn or Cincinnati -- which also recently offered -- this weekend. He already has an official visit set up to Ole Miss the last weekend before signing day.
Wednesday night, the UCF coaching staff is expected to make an in-home visit with Bell and try to hang on to his commitment. The Alabama native says he should have a final decision made by next week.
