Auburn adds commit No. 16
By Brandon Chatmon
Auburn has added another defensive back prospect to its commit list.
Khari Harding (Edmond, Okla./Santa Fe) committed to Auburn on Sunday, switching his commitment from Arkansas to the Tigers after visiting Auburn this weekend.
"I liked everything about it, the players, the coaches, the facilities," Harding said.
The lure of playing in the SEC for Gus Malzahn was too strong for Harding to ignore after the Tigers' new head coach offered him shortly after being hired in December. Malzahn had been pursuing Harding while he was at Arkansas State then continued the pursuit after moving to Auburn.
"I feel like I can come in and contribute in any conference, but I feel like the SEC gets you NFL ready," he said. "Coach Malzahn really wanted me here and I wanted to be a part of his team."
Harding was recruited by Auburn co-defensive coordinator Charlie Harbison and hosted by Johnathan Wallace. The Tigers plan to run a 4-2-5 system and envision Harding playing multiple safety spots in their defense.
"I really like the tradition of the school, the calls, they produce NFL players," Harding said. "It really hit me, that's where I want to be, that's were I want to go. I like that college atmosphere.
"To tell you the truth, I didn't think I would like it down there. But as soon as I stepped on campus, I feel in love with it."
