Juco TE Vandenburg to Vanderbilt
Brandon Vandenburg (Palm Desert, Calif./College of the Desert), the 10th-best junior college prospect in the country, committed to Vanderbilt on Saturday while in Nashville, Tenn. on an official visit, multiple sources report.
The 6-foot-6, 260-pound target also officially visited UConn on Nov. 30. Before making his decision, Vandenburg had planned to take visits to Miami (Jan. 25) and Tennessee (Feb. 1).
Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, Hawaii, Kansas State, Kentucky, Maryland, Nebraska, Nevada, North Texas, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, San Diego State, Texas A&M, Texas Southern and Western Michigan were his other scholarship offers.
Following junior college film evaluation, ESPN wrote of Vandenburg, "This is about as complete of a tight end prospect as you will find, especially if you are in a multiple, pro-style attack where you require in-line run-blocking production. Vandenburg has ideal measurables with the strength, long arms and bulk to be a factor inside, and the deceptive speed and athleticism to surprise you in the passing game."
Vandenburg is now the Commodores' highest-rated verbal for 2013. Vanderbilt's 23-member class currently sits at No. 20 in ESPN's rankings.
