Severson, Gillam follow MacIntyre to CU
Ryan Severson (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian) and Addison Gillam (Santa Anta, Calif./Foothill) originally intended to play for head coach Mike MacIntyre at San Jose State. In December, Mike MacIntyre accepted the head job at Colorado. Now in January, he's convinced Severson and Gillam to join his Buffaloes, according to multiple sources.
Severson is a 5-foot-11, 186-pound running back/defensive back who was named area offensive player of the year this fall after rushing for 1,951 yards and scoring 39 touchdowns. Prior to this season, he shined on the Nike combine circuit posting an electronically timed 4.46 40-yard dash, 4.27 20-yard shuttle, 34.4-inch vertical and 105.36 SPARQ. Additionally, Severson played with MacIntyre's son, Jay, at Valley Christian.
Gillam actually signed with San Jose State in 2012 and planned to grayshirt. But after MacIntyre's move, the 6-3, 220-pound linebacker is now set for the Pac-12. He's also registered solid combine measureables including a 4.85 40, 4.43 shuttle and 25.5 vertical.
Severson and Gillam will be evaluated soon by ESPN, along with defensive end Markeis Reed (Napa, Calif./Vintage), Colorado's only other unrated verbal. The Buffaloes have one four-star and 11 three-stars on board.
