Where South Florida recruits are visiting

By Corey Long

Last weekend South Florida entertained a dozen prospects on official visits, and after a busy week for new head coach Willie Taggart and his staff, there will be another 10 visitors on the South Florida campus this weekend. And other recruits are headed to UCF, Michigan State, Kentucky, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and South Carolina, among other places.

Among the visitors to USF is ESPN 300 defensive lineman Eric Mayes (Sarasota, Fla./Booker), a recent addition to the South Florida board. Mayes will visit Mississippi State and Missouri before making a decision.

“Coach Taggart is well known around here and USF wasn’t really recruiting me hard before now,” Mayes said. “So I want to see what USF is about and go from there.”

Three-star running back Matt Dayes (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) and three-star offensive lineman Kyle Schafenacker (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) will also be taking officials.

Schafenacker is committed to UConn but was offered by South Florida this wee. He will take his official to UConn next weekend and evaluate both programs.

In other news, UCF is hosting three-star wide receiver Alex Montgomery (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) and linebacker Justin McDonald (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla./Boyd Anderson) this weekend.

Michigan State commitments Devyn Salmon (Plant City, Fla./Plant City), Justin Williams (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Treasure Coast) and Noah Jones (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Dillard) will be taken official visits to East Lansing this weekend.

Three-star wide receiver Jeff Badet (Orlando, Fla./Freedom) will be visiting Kentucky this weekend.

Three-star linebacker Nigel Harris (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough) and three-star defensive back Michael Stevenson (Clearwater, Fla./Central Catholic) both are taking visits to Wake Forest this weekend.

ESPN 150 wide receiver Jordan Cunningham (Davie, Fla./University School) and four-star commitment Landon Stokes (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) are two of the 21 official visitors headed to Vanderbilt this weekend.

Four-star defensive lineman Deadrin Senat (Immokalee, Fla./Immokalee) and three-star linebacker Skai Moore (Davie, Fla./University School) are visiting South Carolina this weekend.
