Three-star CB McCollum looking at Hawaii
By Corey Long
It promises to be a wild final month in the recruitment of three-star defensive back Troy McCollum (Miami/North Miami).
The 6-foot, 170-pound senior decommitted from Florida International last month following the firing of head coach Mario Cristobal and has been on the lookout for a new school ever since.
McCollum was scheduled to visit Indiana, but now he might go a little farther west.
“I am working on an official to Hawaii for the 11th,” McCollum said. “I still like Indiana and want to visit, but I think I am going to check out Hawaii first.
“Coach [Chris] Demarest is trying to get all of the Florida kids there for the same weekend.”
Several other changes have also affected McCollum, including Randy Shannon leaving TCU for Arkansas.
“Coach Shannon from Arkansas has got in touch with me,” McCollum added. “There’s no offer yet but he was recruiting me pretty had for TCU.”
South Florida, Utah State and Florida Atlantic are other potential suitors for McCollum, who says he’s open right now.
“A lot of things have happened pretty quickly so I’m going to keep an open mind,” McCollum added.
