DE Dimarya Mixon chooses Mizzou
By Damon Sayles
The slightly rocky recruiting process of Dimarya Mixon (Mesquite, Texas/West Mesquite) has come to an end.
After decommitting from Arizona State and parting ways with an Oklahoma team he had high respect for, Mixon on Saturday verbally committed to Missouri.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end became the Tigers’ 18th commitment.
Mixon committed while on his official visit to Missouri. Recruited by tight ends coach and offensive line coach Bruce Walker, Mixon had additional offers from Baylor, West Virginia, Kansas, Ole Miss, North Texas, Washington State and others. He said that Arizona State still was in the mix late, but Missouri and Baylor were his final two choices.
“I love to play, and I like their style and their defense,” Mixon said. “They really caught my eye. The coach’s rap sheets are great. I heard a lot of good things about the program. I just felt in my heart that it was the right thing to do.”
Mixon gives additional support to Missouri’s defensive line for the 2013 class. Prior to Friday, the Tigers didn’t have a defensive end commit. On Friday, Marcus Loud (Houston/Wheatley) recommitted to Missouri after switching to Colorado.
