Juco LB Tavarres talks Arizona visit
By Erik McKinney
Junior college linebacker Myke Tavarres (Weed, Calif./College of the Siskiyous) committed to Arkansas in August, but that hasn't stopped a couple of West region programs from pursuing the 6-foot-2, 215-pound outside linebacker.
Arizona took the latest shot at Tavarres, as the Wildcats hosted him on an official visit this past weekend.
"I'd already been there once, so I was just looking for some extra stuff and it was all there," he said. "I like how the coaches coach the players during practice. They got up front and talked to them individually about the things they did, good and bad. Just the feel of being there was really nice. I felt the coaches connected with the players."
It was Tavarres' second visit to Arizona, as he was on campus this past summer as well.
After the visit, Tavarres said he remains committed to Arkansas, but will take an official visit to Boise State this weekend.
"It's coming down to Arkansas, Arizona and Boise State," he said. "I have to wait and see who they hire at Arkansas. I really haven't thought about who I'd want to see there. I'm more focused on making the most of these trips."
Tavarres will sign with his school of choice this month, so he will be one of many recruits paying close attention to who winds up filling the head coaching vacancy at Arkansas.
