Brian Allen sees Madison on Badgers visit
By Jared Shanker
Hinsdale (Ill.) Central junior Brian Allen is routinely the first recruit to make it to campus for unofficial visits. That was good news for Wisconsin, which often receives high marks for its college campus and atmosphere.
“It’s always fun coming up to Madison. I really like it here,” said Allen, who was making his second visit to Wisconsin. “It was a good atmosphere. At first it was kind of slow, but a couple series in there wasn’t a seat open. Everyone walked in and was on their feet. By the end of the game I couldn’t sit down.”
Although it was his second visit to Wisconsin, it was his first chance walking around town and checking the school and town out. Allen and his family grabbed lunch on State Street, and they were surprised at how many fans were already hanging out.
“It was like 9 [a.m.] and hundreds of people are out there getting ready for the game and it was crowded and everyone’s into it,” Allen said.
Iowa, Michigan State and Wisconsin have made positive impressions on Allen, who could play either offensive or defensive line in college. Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State and several SEC schools are also interested and are waiting to see Allen’s junior tape, which he will send out this week.
This past weekend was the last game visit for Allen, who will now focus on his wrestling season. He still plans to make a few visits for bowl practices.
