DE Kendal Vickers to South Carolina
By RecruitingNation
Two-star defensive end Kendal Vickers (Havelock, N.C./Havelock) pledged Wednesday night to sign with the Gamecocks, multiple sources report. Vickers posted on his Twitter account, "Committing to the University of South Carolina!"
According to the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, Vickers is expected to spend a post-graduate semester at Fork Union Military Academy (Fork Union, Va.) before enrolling at South Carolina in January 2014.
The 6-foot-3, 216-pound senior picked the Gamecocks over a scholarship offer from East Carolina.
ESPN says that Vickers, "comes across as a tough kid who gives good effort. Needs to keep developing and could contribute on either side of the ball, but likely more in a situational role."
South Carolina's nationally-ranked 2013 class now holds 22 verbals.
