Tshumbi Johnson drops USF for Bearcats

By RecruitingNation

Three-star athlete Tshumbi Johnson (Immokalee, Fla.) made an early commitment back in February to play in the Big East, and inside his home state, for South Florida.  However, Johnson had a change of heart over the weekend and while he's still bound for the Big East, Johnson now intends to sign with Cincinnati, according to multiple reports.

Louisville also offered the 5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect.  Florida, Florida State, Kansas, Miami-FL, Rutgers and Wisconsin showed early interest.

ESPN describes Johnson as, "a pretty dynamic guy as a dual-threat quarterback that is vastly undersized, but is a fairly good passer that in the right offense could have a role under center. In all likelihood he will end up as a wide receiver or possibly corner. Is a sleek athlete with quick feet and a long, lean frame that needs time in the weightroom to become more physical...  a 'tweener non-BCS/BCS conference caliber prospect."

He passed for 2,629 yards and 25 touchdowns while also rushing for 862 yards and 19 more scores as a junior.

Cincinnati has 20 players on board for 2013.
