Hokies secure 2014 running back
Class of 2014 running back Marshawn Williams (Hampton, Va.) has made an early commitment to play for in-state power Virginia Tech, the Roanoke Times reports.
“I think [his] size, speed, intensity [stands out],” Hampton coach Mike Smith said. “He’s a tremendous looking kid for a sophomore. … He’s quite a specimen. Tremendous kid. Great character. Great study habits. A real team person. You just couldn’t give him enough accolades.”
The 5-foot-11, 208-pound Williams, who also plays linebacker, rushed for more than 600 yards and scored 13 touchdowns as a sophomore.
Williams is Virginia Tech's second Class of 2014 verbal, joining defensive lineman Vincent Mihota (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax), who committed in April.
