Two-sport star picks BYU Talon Shumway (Highland, Utah/Lone Peak), who almost committed to Brigham Young for basketball last summer, pledged to play on the gridiron for the Cougars Monday, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
"Every aspect that I was looking for was the right fit," Shumway said.
Utah and Utah State also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect while Boise State and Oregon State were showing interest.
Shumway's lined up at quarterback, receiver, running back, tight end and linebacker in high school but is expected to play wide receiver at BYU.
He plans to serve an LDS mission after graduating from high school.
The Cougars have five public commitments for 2013.
