Tar Heels fill tight end void

Four-star Under Armour All-American tight end Justin Meredith (Anderson, S.C./Hanna) was a longtime North Carolina verbal. However, he switched to Tennessee last month and enrolled early with the Vols.

Sunday, North Carolina picked up a commitment from sleeper three-star tight end Monte Taylor (Springdale, Md./Flowers), according to multiple sources. He was in Chapel Hill for an official visit this weekend.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound senior's only other scholarship offer was from Western Michigan. Programs such as Rutgers and Syracuse showed interest.

Another three-star tight end, Terrance Knox (Concord, N.C.), has been committed to UNC since June.
