Wide receiver Andre McDonald (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) will take his final official visit this weekend to check out UCLA. The athlete is already pretty familiar with the Southern California region.
McDonald is a four-star prospect and rated the No. 2 player in the state. He’s narrowed his choices to UCLA, Minnesota and Vanderbilt and said he plans to make his decision on Signing Day.
“I leave Saturday for UCLA and will stay through to Monday,” McDonald said. “I’m really looking forward to seeing UCLA and learning more about the school. I have a family friend who has a house out there, so I’ve been to Southern California plenty of times on vacation.
“I really wasn’t hearing from UCLA until the new staff came over. I’m very close friends with Justin Combs, who committed there, and he’s actually the one who got me interested in UCLA. I’ve talked with the coaches and they seem like good guys so I’m excited to get out there and check it out.”
McDonald visited Minnesota last weekend and tripped to Vandy back in September. He actually committed to the Commodores shortly after his visit but de-committed just a few weeks ago and decided to re-open his recruitment. As a senior, the athlete caught60 balls for 1,253 yards and 17 touchdowns.
