Four-star offensive guard Caleb Peterson (Auburn, Ala.) has changed his commitment from Southern Miss to North Carolina, multiple sources report.
His decision followed an official visit to campus over the weekend and an in-home visit with members of the Tar Heels staff Wednesday night. Former Southern Miss coach Larry Fedora is the new head man in Chapel Hill, N.C. Peterson originally picked the Golden Eagles back in August.
Auburn, Arkansas, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Duke, Vanderbilt, Alabama and Mississippi State also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-4, 300-pound senior prospect.
Peterson is now the top-rated recruit for North Carolina, according to ESPNU. The Tar Heels' second best verbal is from another interior blocker, four-star Jay Jay Patterson (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.).
